Privacy policy
What LotClock collects, what it does with it, and what it never collects. LotClock measures the used-vehicle market in southeastern Michigan; it is not built to learn about people.
Who we are
LotClock is run from Michigan. Write to hello@lotclock.io about anything on this page; a person reads that address.
From dealership websites
LotClock's crawler reads the inventory pages dealerships publish themselves. It keeps facts about vehicles — VIN, year, make, model and trim as written, asking price, mileage, the dates a vehicle appeared and left — and the dealership's name, address and the link to its own listing. It never keeps photographs, written descriptions, or any person's name, photo, phone number or email. The full account is on About the crawler, including how a dealership is left out for good.
From businesses that use LotClock
- Your account: the business's name, the contact email you wrote from, your website if you have one, the access codes we issued you, and notes we make about the account.
- Credits: what was added to your account and when, and one record per charged answer: which kind of answer (a price or days on lot), which vehicle or area it was about (a VIN, or the year, make, model, trim and miles to the nearest thousand, or a county and kind of vehicle), and the time. Free answers write nothing.
- The Request access form: what you type into it, sent to us by email.
When you use LotClock from an AI app
- We never receive your conversation. An AI app such as Claude or ChatGPT sends LotClock only the request for a tool: a VIN or a vehicle's details, a town or ZIP code, a kind of vehicle. We use it to answer and keep only the billing record above.
- When an app connects, it registers its name and the address to send you back to. The sign-in is kept as scrambled copies (hashes) of the codes and tokens the app holds — never the codes or tokens themselves.
- Revoking your access code ends every app's connection at its next request.
On this website
The site uses no advertising, no analytics service and no cookies. The dealer app at app.lotclock.io remembers the access code you typed in your own browser, so you need not type it again; clearing your browser's site data removes it. Like every web server, ours sees the address a request came from; we use it to limit abuse (too many wrong codes, too many requests) and keep it only in short-lived server logs.
Who else handles it
- Cloudflare carries traffic to and from the site.
- Our email provider carries mail you send us, and the Request access form.
- LotClock runs on its own server. We do not sell or rent information, and we do not share it with advertisers. We will disclose it only if the law requires us to.
How long it is kept
- Vehicle facts are the archive itself and are kept; that history is what LotClock measures.
- Account and credit records are kept while your account is open and for up to two years after it closes, for billing and tax records.
- Sign-in records end when they expire or are revoked and are deleted within a week of that.
Your choices
Ask us what we hold about your business, to correct it, or to close your account and delete what the law lets us delete: hello@lotclock.io. A dealership that does not want its website read can say so once and is excluded permanently, as About the crawler describes.
